New audiovisual denounces human rights violations caused by sports megaevents to take place in Brazil

In the following years, Brazil will host two high-profile megaevents: the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016. The building of infrastructure for these sport events is causing human rights violations in communities in several states of the country.

There are approximately 250 thousand people already displaced or who are threatened to be displaced in 12 capital cities of Brazil. Those who organized themselves to denounce and resist the advance of the infrastructure works, under Popular Committees for the World Cup, denounce that what could be an opportunity to generate inclusion policies is turning into a policy of segregation and discrimination, of commodification of cities and of criminalization and repression of the most impacted communities.

All these claims are summarized in the video produced by the National Articulation for the World Cup (ANCOP)
