One of the representatives of the Bolivian delegation is Rodolfo Machaca, Secretary of Land and Territory of the Confederation of Peasant Workers of Bolivia (CSUTB), member of the organizations of the Latin American Countryside Coordination (CLOC) Via Campesina.
Machaca said the Bolivian delegation will bring the same position to the summit as the one supported by his country at the G77+China negotiations that took place in the recent months.

The Bolivian delegation that participated in the G77 negotiations – made up by developing countries plus China- managed to include Mother Earth rights in the agenda, ahead of the debate that will take place at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Brazil.

The CSUTB leader said two main positions will be discussed at the summit: the one based on the European Union’s proposals, and another one based on the positions of the G77+China.

“Developed countries want to hold developing countries accountable and that is not fair”, said Machaca.

He claimed it is important for social organizations to fight in events like this one, as decisions made here will be very important.

The Bolivian member groups of La Via Campesina agree that ‘green economy’ answers to a “capitalist and commodifying” view of nature, which disregards the issues already put forward by Bolivia about the importance of multiculturalism and Mother Earth rights.
