Between April 30th and May 3rd Treinta y Tres department, to the east of Uruguay, will become the regional capital of native seeds, agroecology and food sovereignty.

The park on Olimar river will be the place where people will meet, debate and carry out balances and perspectives to several organizations and networks related to agroecology, and the appreciation of native biodiversity.

The agenda of this event, which is still under construction, includes the presence of delegations from several regions of Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil. Members of the Landless Rural Workers Movement from Brazil will also participate.

There will be presentations and exchanges of knowledge, but people will also exchange seeds grown and preserved as an alternative and conscious resistance to agribusiness, present everywhere and resulting in monoculture plantations, environmental destruction and excessive use of resources throughout the Southern Cone.

Real World Radio will cover this event, including interviews, round tables, and live broadcasts.

The activity is promoted by the local authorities, Treinta y Tres municipality. Jose Puigdevall, Director of the Agroecology and Food Sovereignty department told Real World Radio that the event will be educational, because in addition to farmers and peasants, all primary schools of Treinta y Tres department will be present.
