A new page of the Bolivian history was written yesterday with the landslide victory of Evo Morales in the presidential elections. This strengthens the isolated destabilizing attempts that aimed to stop his reelection.

Evo Morales and the Movement Toward Socialism ratified the support of the Bolivian peoples and increased their hegemony in the Houses of Parliament which, according to social actors will enable him to pass some laws that will give way to the historically postponed popular demands.

According to the preliminary results, the MAS won two thirds of the Senate, after getting 25 of the 36 seats, while it obtained 82 out of 130 seats in the lower chamber.

One of the first steps of the renovated Parliament will be to amend the election mechanism of the governors and the passing of autonomy by-laws in April.

The new Parliament would also have to discuss the Judiciary Law, the Plurinational Constitution and the Framework Law of Autonomies and Decentralization.
