Representatives of Milieudefensie – Friends of the Earth Netherlands demonstrated this Tuesday outside the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of transnational oil company Shell, in The Hague, demanding compliance with the Paris Agreement and for the company to stop fueling climate change.

Demonstrations were held in many cities around the world by member groups of environmental federation Friends of the Earth International.

The mobilizations are part of the international week of action against Shell, organized by Milieudefensie from May 19-26. On April 4, this organization announced they will take Shell to court if they disregard the claims that demand them to put an end to climate destruction. The Anglo-Dutch company has until May 30 to issue a response. If it fails to do so, Milieudefensie will start legal proceedings.

Real World Radio interviewed the Director of Milieudefensie, Donald Pols, to know more about the reasons behind the international campaign against Shell and the potential trial, the support they have been receiving and the action held this Tuesday, among other things.
