The 16th Conference of the Union of Citizen Assemblies (UAC) of Argentina took place from August 19 – 22, in Quimilí, at the office of the Santiago del Estero Peasant Movement (MOCASE Vía Campesina).

Socio-environmental organizations and assemblies met again to debate about the problems faced by them in the different territories. This time, the host of the conference was MOCASE VC, an important national movement in the struggle for land and food sovereignty. The first day of the activity, the groups discussed about how the UAC works at internal level and they exchanged regional experiences.

Around 300 people from several parts of the country participated in this event, where they discussed about alternatives to strengthen the struggles. The groups continue working on the conflicts related to mining, agribusiness, pulp mills and urban issues.

There was also a march to downtown Quimilí to raise awareness about the different realities of the country, highlighting the resistance by MOCASE VC.
Then they visited peasant families from the communities near Quimilí to exchange experiences and strengthen their struggles.
