This Monday, Real World Radio (RWR) presented a short video summarizing the work carried out by the radio in 2015 and 2016 at the Biennial General Assembly of Friends of the Earth International (FoEI, the federation to which the radio belongs), which is taking place in South Lampung Regency, Indonesia. Yesterday, leader Lesbia Yaneth Urquía, renowned community activist in the defense of common goods and against the Aurora I hydroelectric project, in San José municipality, La Paz department, was murdered. On March 11, 2016, a strong joint operation by the National Police and the Honduran Army evicted families of the 9 de julio peasant movement in Tutule municipality, La Paz department. The over 80 officers destroyed coffee crops, fruit trees, maize, beans, vegetable gardens and the 50 houses of the families. During the actions, two workers were shot and two women were arrested and mistreated, according to a statement published by the movement. Read more

The Transnational Institute of the Netherlands denounced a deepening of human rights violations in Honduras, as well as women rights violations, and warns about the institutional way in which violence is expressed. "There is a complete institutional deficiency, there is no space to claim justice" said Lyda Forero, who participated in the "International Peoples´ Meeting - Berta Cáceres Lives On" in Honduras, from April 13-15.
